Silence

Last week at exactly 12:51 on Tuesday is when the earth quake hit Christchurch.
Today, exactly one week after the earthquake hit everyone in NZ stood still and silent for 2 minutes.
It didn't matter where you were or what you were doing you just sat still and silent to think about the people who have lost their lives.
As of now the death toll stands at 154, with police expecting it to reach about 240.

Picture found here

Above pictures and more can be found here.

One interesting thing that happened today in Christchurch is a crane worker found a time capsule that was hidden under a statue that fell over in the earth quake.  The statue was erected in 1867, so it should be fun to see what is in the time capsule and what they would have thought was important back then.

DAY # 29
Only one day to go for the remix.
Let me just say this skirt and top itched my sunburn all day, nothing is more annoying then itchy red skin!
Today was a much better day then yesterday, I think yesterday I was just in a bad mood.  I do think everyone in NZ's mood is affected by the earth quake even if they don't know it.  I guess it just feels like everyone is a little more serious then normal.
Today's picture of the day is of the book I am currently reading.
Hopefully I can remember to take a picture of all the books I read that way I will know how many I read in a year.  I like this book so far, but I don't love it.

Oh yeah today is March First and that means that in NZ it is the first day of Autumn or what we call Fall.
I can not believe summer is over, but I have started to notice the change.  In the morning and in the night it is getting a little cooler than it was just a week ago.  This means 2 things for me: 1. I will be wearing tights again soon and 2. I will have to find all my Nana blankets to put on my side of the bed =)

Mondayitis

Today's picture of the day is of some wild flowers that I had planted.
I thought they would never grow, but sure enough they did!

I think I have Mondayitis, everything was annoying me today!  At work today I felt like everything I was told to do was said in such detail that I started to wonder if maybe I had a stupid clueless look on my face?
I guess that is what happens when you are learning, no one wants you to mess anything up so they take 20 minutes to explain how to type something.

Today is day 28 out of 30 for the 30 for 30 remix.
I don't think I have repeated any outfits yet and I only have 2 more days.
While I have really loved remixing these clothes I am excited to get to wear other outfits in my closet.

I think I mentioned in my post over the weekend that I got a little burned in a few places because my sunscreen was not applied evenly.  Everyone always gives me a hard time because I am always reapplying my sunscreen all the time, well the one time I trust that Grant has covered my back and look what happens!
Now everything I wear besides pjs annoys the crap out of me!

The good thing is no one sees my back or stomach on a regular basis.

To Do

Today was all about ticking items off my to do list.
  • GROCERY SHOPPING
  • PRACTICING TYPING SKILLS
  • LAUNDRY
  • VACUUMING
  • STARTING A WATER COLOR
  • CLEANING
  • STARTING A REVAMP PROJECT
Today the picture is of one of our local stores where we do our grocery shopping.
Lucky for me Grant came so I didn't have to do it all alone and it also was not very crowded.

Earler in the day I got a little down because I realized that I am currently (with my new job) making less money a month than it takes to live per month.  Thankfully Grant reminded me that this job is about getting experience not about making lots of money.   So with that in mind I am going to get as much as I can out of the job and then I am going to get a job where I can afford to live.

I should be happy that I have a job at all and that I am alive when I think about the poor people in Christchurch.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend =)

Big Beach Day

Last night we went to the Shape Shifter concert and this is what I wore.
I was worried I might get cold but Grant was right, it was really hot in the concert.
This is what I look like when Grant takes my picture because he is this tall!  It looks like the picture is being taken by someone standing on a ladder.

We had a lot of fun at the concert. Shape Shifter is a drum and base dance type of music so there was lots of dancing going on.  I loved it!
Because we didn't over do it on the drinking last night we were up early and ready to head out to the beach.
The day was nice and warm and clear so we went to a beach about 2 hours north and Grant and his friend were able to catch tons of waves.  Of course I wasn't able to take my camera because we had to walk through tons of mud and then swim across an estuary(which was really hard I am pretty out of shape) to get to the beach.  The sad thing is I didn't apply my sun screen very well and now I have lots of bright red spots on my back and sides =(  Oh well I guess that just happens sometimes.

One Beer Down Many to Go!

Yay its Friday!!!  I have been home one hour and already drank a beer!
The picture of the day is of the outside of my work.  Yes I work in that building, and its very nice inside too.

During my drive home I was super hot and I kept thinking a beer would be very nice.
So that is what I did, I drank a beer when I got home and I will probably drink several more!
We are going to a concert tonight around 8pm and I think it will be lots of fun, I just need to remember to take some pictures.
Today for my remixed outfit I thought rolling the pants would be something cute and new to do, also layering a tank under the button up was a new way to wear that shirt.
I wasn't even hot till the drive home with no air con.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday or Thursday depending on where you live=)

Season Change???

I am going to talk about several different topics in this post so don't get confused hahahha.

Number one:  Yesterday when I got the mail out of its little box I got excited because there was a fabric store ad informing me of a discount, what I wasn't ready for was in big writing it said end of season sale!  I am so not ready for summer to be over!  It feels like summer has just begun.  The sad thing in NZ is each season really changes on the dot, just today it was much cooler=(  I am sure we will still have hot days its just sad to know that summer is coming to an end and fall is creeping in.

Number two:  This morning as I was driving to work (of course in traffic but I won't go there) I looked in my rear view mirror and what do I see?  A man READING THE NEWS PAPER!!!!!! Now I know a few posts back I said how I was sick of sitting in traffic and I was thinking of getting a book on CD to LISTEN to, well this man has taken that thought to a whole new level!  When the traffic stopped I quickly took a picture of him, as I did this a thought occurred to me, this man is reading and I am taking pics of him, both of us really should be focused on the road but at least a picture takes one second, but reading! GOOD LORD!

This is not the first time I have seen people doing crazy things while driving in NZ.  I have seen a woman putting on mascara, a man eating what looked like a big mac, a woman with a dog in her lap, and Grant once ate an ice cream sundae( it was scary and messy)!

So we can't talk on the phone but we can; eat, read, put on make up, rummage through bags, take pictures, have screaming kids throw stuff at you, and the list goes on forever!

click on the picture to see him larger SO FUNNY!

Outfit of the day
Hahahaha I laugh all by myself
Bangs back and hair up hmmm I must mean business

Picture of the day
My mom requested a picture of my desk area and here it is.  I quickly snapped it first thing before it got all messed up with papers and junk.

Another Week Day

PICTURE OF THE DAY
I am finding taking a picture a day on the week days very hard.  Pretty much until I get home from work I forget that I need to take a picture.  Anyways this is a photo of our gate that leads to our house.

Outfit of the day
I must say I had no idea these pants looked this baggy until I saw these pictures!
It looks sorta like a pirate outfit hahahhaa.
Oh well arrrrrr I am a pirate!

I am home from work and watching the news again about the earth quake in Christchurch.  It is so sad to know that there are people trapped in lots of the buildings that are ready to collapse.  Last night on the news there was a lady that called into the news station who was trapped in a building while talking to the news man on her mobile phone, after that story I decided to go to sleep, but before I did I just had a little think hoping the woman would be found ( i guess you could call it a prayer but I am not religious).  Anyways I have just found out that the woman has been saved!  I hope everyone can just keep the trapped people of NZ in their thoughts.

Earth Quake

 Picture of the day
There has been a huge earth quake in Christ Church, the south Island of NZ today.
The whole country is pulling together to do a search and rescue of missing people.
I am watching the news right now and it is very sad, I hope they can find all the missing people!

Day 22
It is getting really hard to remix the same clothes, but mainly its because I included too many pairs of pants and its been too hot to wear them.
This has been a great challenge so far because I have really had to think what would look good and what can be mixed and matched.  Normally I would never put the top above with that skirt, but what do you know it worked!

Traffic

The photo of the day should be called the traffic of the day!
There was sooo much traffic it was unreal!
I find myself getting really stressed sitting in traffic, my new idea is to get a book on CD
so it won't be so awful.
30 For 30 Remix
I gotta say its getting really hard to come up with new ideas, but tonight I am going to try some ideas on.

Today it was so hot I was dripping with sweat!  That's a nice thought hahahhah =)

Party Time

We have had a large weekend.  Saturday I started the day with some grocery shopping for ingredients to make food for a party.  I made pasta salad, salsa, and guacamole, during that whole time Grant painted.  It must be nice to be a guy!  In between party prep I did spend some time reading out in the sun.
For breakfast Grant had this huge egg mc crazy!
It includes 2 beef patties, fried egg, hash brown, cheese and sauce!
With a side of another hash brown and another fried egg!
And yet he keeps losing weight hahahhaha
Around 5:30 pm we headed off to the party, sadly I only took 2 pictures, but at least this one of Mel and Ruby turned out really good.
Everyone had a great time drinking and eating.  Of course my dad helped with the Margaritas and they tasted great.  I wish I had taken more pictures but I hate being one of those annoying people with the camera.
We ended up spending the night because we had so much to drink but thankfully we didn't feel sick this morning, only a little slow.

Today, Sunday, has been a jam packed day.  We woke up and met my dad and his friends at a restaurant where they were having breakfast, mainly to get my bag that was mistaken as my dad's bag.  Anyways it was good to say good bye one last time to my dad who is taking off for a 2 week fish trip.  From there we headed home for a nap and some time relaxing.  In the afternoon we went to a friends house and hung out around their pool ( the water was too cold for me), and at 6 tonight we went to the movies and saw True Grit.  The movie is a Western remake, pretty entertaining, but keep in mind it is a western!

A great weekend that flew by!  I can't believe its back to work tomorrow already=)

Popsicle Time

Thursday my dad and I went to the Auckland museum.  Surprisingly he had never been before, but he loved it!  We went through the museum in about 2 hours and from there we headed to lunch.  When my mom had visited she loved this certain salad place in Takapuna and insisted my dad went.  So we had yummy salads at Sumo Salad.
Above picture of the day.  Again I was surprised my dad had never been to Takapuna.
After lunch we walked along the water and laughed at people trying to launch their boats.
Above outfit of the day.  It is a dress but sadly it is hard to see in this picture.

Today I went back to work and my dad is off to spend some time with one of his friends fishing.
When I got home from work I went straight to the fridge and thought what can I eat?  I know a Popsicle!
Outfit of the day.  Still doing the 30 for 30 Remix, but it turns out it won't really be 30 days because I am not doing the challenge on my days off of work.
On day 18 I am wearing wide leg jeans, stripe shirt, and black belt!
oh yum that Popsicle was good!

The Eagle Has Landed!

The eagle has landed, translation my dad has arrived!  Last night I was stressed trying to clean the house and make everything perfect so it would make a good impression.  All stress ended when I picked him up this morning at the airport, he made it!  After some unpacking we headed out for some shopping and lunch.
We went to lunch at the Stone Oven Bakery in Devonport.  I got the mushroom omelet and my dad got the fettuccine.  Both meals were awesome tasting and they were really big, neither of us could finish them!
I got a few goodies from my mom too.  An address book, some hair clips, and some allergy medicine.  I can't wait to start filling out the address book, Thanks Mom.
In our shopping we also got me a key board so I can start to practice my typing skills and number keys.
I intend to get really fast so I can put it on my resume for jobs!
Now it is nap time, but the plan for tonight is to have BBQ hamburgers for dinner, yummy.
