Guest Room in Progress...

Above is our guest room before we painted the wall.

Below is what the room looks like now.

Below is what I would like to add to the room

Additional white curtains to beef up the curtains that are there now.
.Possibly the side table below, or something like it.
Possible rug?

Fun and Home Up Dates!

Last week my mom came over and we had a fiesta! We used out BBQ for the first time.  It worked perfectly, we had found this BBQ at a garage sale for 10 dollars.

 The food turned out great!

On Friday night we went to a place called Gas Lamp in Long Beach.  It was 80's night and they had a band.
I was driving so I didn't drink much but it was still a lot of fun.
Turns out Grant does not really like 80's music, or I guess he doesn't understand it when trying to dance and party lol.
Saturday night Grant made us dinner.  I was so yummy, steak and sweet potato mash!

I also got us some baskets to keep us organized.
 Saturday I painted my frames.
Saturday we also went shopping and got some stuff for our guest room.
Its finally coming along, we still need a little side table to put a lamp on and maybe another curtain.
Also we need a different rug and of course some art on the walls.

BLOG EVERYDAY IN MAY

Can I do this? Hmmm we will see!
The goal is to blog everyday in the month of May, using the topics below.
Sounds fun and its worth a try!

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)
Day 2, Thursday: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. Take any approach you'd like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic)
Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable
Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it
Day 5, Sunday: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member
Day 6, Monday: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?
Day 7, Tuesday: The thing(s) you're most afraid of
Day 8, Wednesday: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.
Day 9, Thursday: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)
Day 10, Friday: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.
Day 11, Saturday: Sell yourself in 10 words words or less
Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)
Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.
Day 14, Tuesday: Ten things that make you really happy
Day 15, Wednesday: A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)
Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it
Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why
Day 18, Saturday: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.
Day 19, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them
Day 20, Monday: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.
Day 21, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives
Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)
Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you
Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits
Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)
Day 26, Sunday: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.
Day 27, Monday: A letter to your readers
Day 28, Tuesday: Only pictures
Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post
Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go
Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

New Bed

This Sunday we worked at the house getting stuff done! I sanded and stained my little round table.
Now it look so much better.
The annoying thing about working on the house is just how everything looks soo messy before it looks good again.  Like you have to move a bunch of stuff and get a lot of paint and tools out and it makes a huge mess until its done and everything can be put away again.

We also got a guest room bed from ikea!  I love it!  It is so hard to make things from ikea cause the directions are always a little confusing and I always think I can do it faster than I really can lol.

The bed is great, now we just have to get everything that will go on the bed, paint the walls and get new curtains.  So in other words we still have a lot to do!

At least its a start!

Parties and House Work

Wednesday and Thursday I worked at the dental convention in Anaheim.  I saw this walking tooth brush and had to get a photo.  The funny thing is I don't know the guy in the photo with me and he would not leave!  My co-worker and I were laughing so hard cause she kept waiting for him to get out of the shot and he was so excited to get a photo with the tooth brush he would not leave!!!
I finally told her I don't care just take it lol!

Thursday night we went to visit Hazel!

On Thursday, Hazel's real birthday my mom and I went to see her and give her the rocking chair we got for her, isn't it cute!  She loved it!  I think in a few months when she is a little more stable on her feet she will really get to use it.
 Lacey and Hazel.
Hazel's birthday was on April 11th and Grant's birthday is on the 15th so they are exactly 30 years apart.
I had cut Grant's hair this morning and he wanted to leave the front long, I told him its sort of an 80's look.
Me and Hazel at her One Year old Birthday Party.
 Before the Curtain

 After the Curtain I made.
Nice and bright for the spring and Summer, it was so easy to make that I could make one for each season!

Before and After The House

A small update I made was to spray paint this air conditioner white, it was so ugly before. Its not perfect now but at least it doesn't stand out as much as it did.
Below is the new sink top sitting on top of the cupboards before we stained them.  The old top was horrible and sadly I can't find a good picture of it.

Below is the sink almost done.  We still have to paint the walls and finish the small details.
I have to start taking better pictures but the problem right now is the internet connection is not working in my office on my good computer so I have to use my small lap top and it is making this whole process very hard to I apologize for the horrible pictures!

Weekend of Parties

This weekend was full of a lot of parties.  Saturday night was my friend's Bachelorette party and the very next day was the bridal shower.  I feel like this weekend went by so fast it feels like there was no weekend at all or more like there was a weekend but I blinked and it was gone.
We went to dinner at a place called Pop in Pasadena.  The food was really good, although I didn't eat much or drink much for that matter.  The funniest part of the night was the blow up doll my friend had to carry around with her.  His name is Tyron I guess that was the name on the box lol!

Sunday at the bridal shower we played lots of games and had a great time.

We found this great table at a garage sale on the way to the shower! Score!

What we wore on Easter

I don't know what it is about Easter but I always feel like I have to wear something Spring like and bright.  Apparently my mom feels the same way!  All the girls that showed up on Easter were all wearing bright colored pants and flowered shirts.  This is my second year in a row being home for Easter and it kinda feels like I was never away, but on the other hand I can remember being in NZ and missing all these fun holidays and wishing I was home.  As much as I love NZ and miss it there a lot of the time it always better to be around my family joking and laughing and having fun!
