The Last Challenge Day!

Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

This is hard because I feel like all of my memories are pretty vivid.  One time that stands out is when I moved to New Zealand to be a nanny for the first time.  I was scared and excited and sad and happy, lets just say it was pretty emotional ha ha.  I was nervous because I had never been there and I had never lived far from home, I was sad because I knew I was not going to see my family or friends for 6 months to a year and I was happy and excited because it was a new adventure.  Luckily when I arrived in the airport and Peter was there to pick me up everything felt fine and even though I was sad and missed everyone all my emotions turned to excitement.  I also felt like I had accomplished a lot by trying something different, most people do not get out of their comfort zone and if I had not taken this trip I would have missed out on the feeling that I can do anything and that I am ok by myself.  Of course life is more fun with friends, but its ok to walk around and do things all on your own.

Yay the Challenge is over! That also means that May is over! Summer is here =)

Only one more day till the weekend!

Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go

Almost done with this challenge and almost done with this month!  Next month's challenge will be getting in shape for summer, I have the whole month of June to eat healthy and work out!

React to the term Letting Go
This term for me means getting over something.  For instance if I am really mad about something, letting go would be putting what happened into perspective and then not thinking about it any more.  I have to tell you the truth though, this is impossible for me!  The only way I am able to let something go is for whatever is bothering me to be completely over so I can try to forget it ever happened.  Sometimes it takes months for me to get over something that is bothering me.  For instance something last night happened early in the night and I was so irritated and mad it ruined the whole night, now I am awake and I feel better, but there was nothing that would have changed my mood last night.  I guess I need to work on letting go, but a lot of the time that means not caring about stuff and I would hate to stop caring because where does that get you?  All a sudden you don't care where you live or what you look like or what you are doing and then you live in a van down by the river...

OK Let it go...

2 in One!

Combo Post since I missed one!
Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits

  • Getting anxiety over anything with a time schedule and definite plans ( I am always worried I will be late or forget something)
  • Trying to control everything that has to do with me.
  • Letting things go, its hard for me just to ignore things or get over fights quickly.

Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)

The one thing that I will never forget, and its funny now, but we were on a family vacation and we were walking down the beach and I was mad about something so I was kicking sand and my dad said, your just a bad seed.  At the time I was very mad but now I think its kinda funny, because nothing is worse than the kid who just won't stop annoying everyone! And that was me that day lol!

Ironically that goes back up to the letting things go section hahhaha.

Things you've learned that school won't teach you

Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you
I would have to say most things I know were not learned in school.  Its sad that school really does not teach you much about the real world.  Even college does not really teach anything about real life.  Being in school, not class, but school itself does teach you some life lessons, like how to get somewhere on time every day and how to interact with people and how to deal with problems.

Mainly what school taught me was the basics, math, English, a little history (what I can remember) and some science.  Because my job has nothing to do with math or science or history and because I have no interest in doing any of this in my spare time, I was right when I stated in school, I will never use geometry or calculus and I don't even need to know how to add or subtract fractions, that is what a computer is for lol!

What I have learned that school will never teach you is:
  •  how to pay bills
  •  how to manage money
  •  how to get a job
  •  how you present yourself goes a long way
  •  how to stay orgainized
  •  how to buy a house
  •  how to move to another country
  •  how to imigrate someone into America
  •  how to deal with friends and co workers
  •  how to cook
  •  how to clean
  • how to sew
  • how to change your name
  • how to drive
  • how to swim
  • how to fix minor problems on a car
  • how to do minor pluming and home updates
Pretty much everything that I do on a daily baisis was either taught by my parents or I learned by looking up the information myself or I learned the hard way by trial and error.

School is good for the basics but after that I have realized you are on your own!

RANT

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

Well the one thing that is a daily irritation would have to be bad drivers, and not only someone who does not have great driving skills but actually rude drivers.  People who don't follow the driving rules because they feel they don't apply to them or maybe they are driving safer by going slower on the freeway.  No! If you are driving slower on the freeway its not safer its more dangerous cause everyone now has to fly around you and slam on their breaks.  Then there are the people who do not signal, WHY?  How hard is that?  I had someone tell me once they don't signal cause they don't want people to know where they are going? That is the law and that is what helps other drivers to not crash right into you!

Then there are the drivers that cut you off and swerve in and out of traffic, this must be because they are more important than everyone else, their time is more precious than every other drivers time, must be! NO! We are all in a hurry we all have to be somewhere so just get in your lane and stay there!  If it wasn't for these rude drivers who probably left late to start with there wouldn't be nearly as much traffic and accidents.  Its just so irritating, its almost ridiculous sometimes.  If you drive with me you will hear me saying a constant stream of comments about the bad drivers, if we ever have kids I will have to filter what is coming out of my mouth!

The Weekend Flew By

Last week was the last ever episode of the Office and you better believe I cried! lol!  Grant took pictures of me crying but I look like an idiot so I am not putting them up.  We also brought the wave coffee table in a little while ago which has now made me re-think the way we had the living room set up and the decor.  So I have decided we have to now go with a subtle beach theme.  Not a full blown fish theme or anything crazy but just more of a wave and nautical theme.  When we were at some garage sales on Saturday I found some vases but sadly no furniture.  There were some drawers I saw that I am now thinking about a lot, maybe I should have bought them, but there will always be more sales next weekend.

We need a rug and different pillows, maybe that coral color that is really popular right now.
I also got some art from my mom and hung it around the house.  Our sewing room is almost done.  We still have the office our room both bathrooms and the finishing touches on this living room, but so far its going good.

Above is a picture of us on the hunt for good garage sales.  Sunday I went to my friend Kelly's house to put together gifts for the wedding next weekend.  Its going to be a crazy weekend packed with stuff to do, but it will be fun!

5 Fav Blogs!!!

Day 19, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them

Ok, I skipped blogging Saturday! I just didn't feel like it and between our toilet over flowing on Thursday night and again on Friday and having a plumber come out and my mom helping and Garage sale-ing on Saturday morning there just wasn't time!

So I will skip to doing today's blog challenge, I have a ton of blogs I really love! It will be hard to pick 5 so I will just give you a variety pack.

1. The blog Love Maegan is awesome, its a fashion blog that has really pretty pictures and great tutorials from home decor to outfits to hair.  I find what she posts is interesting and visually pleasing.  I feel like I am looking through a fashion magazine without having to go buy one!

2.  Cup of Jo is an interesting blog that is a great read.  Less pictures and more topics! I love the interesting questions she has and discusses.  She is always coming up with a topic and discussing it, then asking the reader their opinion!

I have about 100 other blogs I skim through and love but these seem to be the top 5 that I never like to miss.  I just find they are interesting and original.  Its fun to get a glimpse of other peoples lives and interests through their blogs.  By reading blogs I have found that while everyone is very different in some ways we are all very alike in other ways.  Its interesting to read that someone out there is going through the same thing you are or maybe the same situation you went through.  It has helped me to realize just how similar we all are as humans.

Favorite Photo

Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why
This is one of my favorite photos.  Not because it was a great photo of me, but because it was taken when I was really enjoying myself.  We were in NZ at Grant's family home on vacation in the summer.  It was the most perfect weather, warm with a nice breeze and I was reading an excellent book that I never wanted to end.  The swing I was sitting on was the best part it was so comfortable and relaxing.  This is how I would spend everyday if I could.

Something difficult?

Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it

Well hmmmmm.  I don't have a perfect life but I don't really have any certain difficulty have I have to over come at least right now.  When I was younger I was chubby and made fun of in school so I guess I had to overcome that, but everyone in school gets teased for something!  I just have the same difficulty most people have, which is trying to balance my life between working and enjoying my time off and saving money and trying to fix up my house.  A lot of the time we don't do a lot of going out right now because we are trying to save up for the future, but other than that I really enjoy my life and I have a lot of fun anyways =)

Also a lot of people think we are crazy, but we don't have smart phones, or gym memberships or new cars or really new anything lol, but because of that we are able to save more and hopefully go on more vacations in the future!

Day in My Life

So my typical week day is pretty boring.  I wake up at 530am. (who am I kidding I wake up at 545 most mornings). It takes me about 30 min to get ready if I really spend time, but normally I throw clothes on and brush my hair and quickly do make up and I am done in twenty min.

I head down stairs and make my breakfast and lunch, clean the kitchen and go on my lap top all while watching the morning news.

I leave my house at 640 am at the latest to go to work.  I don't like to risk traffic so leaving early gets me to work about 30 min early most days! I start at 730 am.
For the rest of the day I answer the phone, take orders, enter orders and call customers.
I have two 15 min breaks and one hour lunch.  I usually bring a frozen dinner or make my lunch.  Because I hoover my lunch down in 10 minutes I usually walk during lunch.  The one mile walk takes me about 18 min and I spend the rest of the time talking to my mom on the phone or on the computer.

I am off work at 430 pm and I drive home. Takes me about 30 min to get home, I usually change my clothes right away to pjs or lounge clothes then I sit on the couch and watch tv and snack.  (Today was a different story because my car had the service engine soon light on so I got my oil changed where I got royally ripped off then I came home to try a hair style that was a major fail!)
I normally make dinner ranging between 630 to 8 and we eat and watch our shows.  I then clean the kitchen again and go to bed around 10 to 1030pm.

Then the next thing I know my alarm goes off and I do it all again!!!!

Above is the hair style I was going for and below is the epic fail I ended up with.
Turns out I have to many layers and not enough skill. lol
Time for bed!
