Baby Room

One of my Baby shower gifts was wall graphics from Rondi and Neil from their company Fineline Signs.
Today my mom and Rondi came by and put the graphics on the wall.

The wall looks sooo good! I can't believe it!
I love how it turned out.  I really wanted something over the crib but I didn't want anything that could fall on the babies head in an earth quake so this was the perfect option.
The room is now complete.  Hopefully the next pictures I put up of the baby room will include the baby in them.

Today was my last day of work.  It was sad saying goodbye to everyone but I am so excited to have the baby and hopefully I will be able to keep myself busy these 2 weeks before my due date.  My plan is to relax and get everything organized in the house.  Maybe do things I normally don't have time for like reorganizing the kitchen or maybe dealing with my closet.  I am sure there will be plenty to do...

Maternity Leave

On Wednesday I had a doctor's appointment and from now until the baby is born I will go every week to the doctor.  She checked everything and said the babies head is low and her prediction is that he will be born either the week before my due date or at my due date, but we will see...

Today was the day before my last day of work and everyone gave me a really nice card and we got cup cakes from my boss.  As excited as I am to have some time off before the baby comes I am really going to miss all my work friends!

These cup cakes were super yummy and rich!
One more day till I have off 2 weeks before the baby comes.  I am so excited, everyday I try to imagine what it will feel like to have my normal body back lol!

Pregnancy Update 37 Weeks

I am officially 37 weeks along!  Only 3 more weeks to go till my due date.
I have been feeling ok for a huge pregnant lady who is ready to have this baby.  I feel like we are ready or at least as ready as one can be when not knowing when everything will happen.  Our bags are packed and the car seat is installed, I guess those are the only important things.

I have started to feel lots of Braxton Hicks throughout the days and lots of pressure on my back.  This last weekend I was getting so many jabs and pains I thought maybe the baby was coming, but then they just stopped.  This is my last week of work, then I will have 2 weeks to finish preparing everything I might need, I guess stocking up on food and possibly cleaning the house.

Currently:
  • Feeling lots of back pressure and pain
  • Gained lots of weight I think around 40 plus pounds
  • Having a hard time sleeping, I am not tired but I do wake up many times in the night
  • Its now hard to feel comfortable, even when I am relaxing
  • Feeling anxious and excited and a little worried about the unknown

Grant is excited although he doesn't really talk about it much unless I ask him.  I try not to call him during the day cause I don't want to scare him lol.  He has been getting in as much surfing as possible because I think he knows it might all be put on hold when the baby comes.

We have pretty much decided on the name but we are not telling anyone till he is born!

The count down is officially on!

New Rug!

We have spent months and months looking for a large rug for our living room.  Every rug we found was either the wrong color or too small.

Below is a picture of a rug we got at Ikea for $20, but was way too small.  I wanted a rug just to make the whole place more comfy and for when the baby is here he will have a place to lay.
We finally ended up going to a carpet store and ordering a rug to be cut to the right dimensions.

Before:

After:

The good thing about the rug is it blends with the floor pretty well.  I didn't want something that was going to add a lot of color because I feel like we already have a lot of colors going on, plus every rug that had a design in it had browns and that just didn't match our theme.

I am officially 36 weeks!  Only 4 more to go and only 2 more weeks of work to go.  I am so excited to have this baby although just in the last few days I have been getting a little nervous, thinking what will the baby look like, will we like it? hahhaha.  Are we ready?  My life at this point has been put on a holding pattern till I have the baby, I can't do things I normally do like lifting, cleaning and organizing the house, and its not fun to go out because I am not in a party mood and my back has been killing me so I can't do even simple things for long periods of time like shopping or going out with out getting tired.  Everything added together is making me very anxious and excited to have the baby and get my "normal" or new normal life going again.
Plus I can't wait to have my body back, its been fun but I can't wait to feel like myself again.
It could all be happening any day now!

Hot Again!

It is January and its hot again!  I know most people who live in cold areas are thinking why would you complain about something like heat?  Well when summer seems to last for about 6 months straight and then winter hits and we get one week of cool weather with only about 2 days of rain followed by more heat, it just gets old.  Also its not the nice summer type of heat its a weird dry heat that makes your nose bleed, your hands crack and bleed, your throat dries out in the night and you can't breath kind of dryness.  Also your skin turns to leather and itches soo bad you have to put lotion on every time you can.  All I am saying is it might be nice to have a little rain and possibly some cooler days were we can wear a sweater and some boots.

Garden

Saturday my mom came over and spent the night at our house.  We went to a garden place and bought some flowers to plant.  We picked something that will hopefully make it through the winter, even though here it is going to be about 80 degrees this week!

On Sunday we visited our friend Mary at her beautiful house.
 They have a wonderful garden!

Monday, Grant and I both made it through the first day of the work week woo hoo!
I made spaghetti for dinner and some green beans, turned out really good.
The baby has been kicking and punching all day and night! I think he might be a ninja?
I feel like he is getting lower and lower, get low get low get low ( like the song).
Below I am dressed like a clown!
Happy Monday!

Nautical Baby Room

 Here is the baby's room!
Everything is done; all the clothes and blankets are washed, the art is hung on the wall and we are ready, or at least the room is ready.

Of course there are always things that I still want to do, like possibly cover that chair or make a bed skirt for the crib, but really none of that is important or needed.  I feel like if I am going to do those projects I will want someone to help me.  I don't have the energy to do that on my own, I would start it then think, too much work and have a mess on my hands.

The only thing we still plan to do is paint the wall behind the crib a nice light blue color and our friend is going to do a decal of a lighthouse scene for us!

Today I am officially 35 weeks along!  Only 5 more weeks to go!

Comfy Pregnancy Clothes

So as soon as I get home from work I put on comfy clothes to hang around the house in.  Before I got pregnant I would wear my normal day clothes till I was ready to go to sleep and then I would change, but because I find everything to be uncomfortable I now change as soon as I know I am in for the day.  Yesterday I was wearing this striped top and pants and Grant looked at me and said you look like Smee!  I just started laughing cause I do look like Smee (from Peter Pan)!  He was like you have the belly and everything! hahhahaha

Car Seat

All day today I was planning on going shopping after work for some food for the house.  We are literally out of everything.  The only thing is I now have this way of talking myself out of shopping, I started to think about how tired I was and how many people are in the store at that time and how I would have to haul it all by myself to the car and out of the car.  So anyways I thought I will go home and after relaxing a little Grant and I can go together so he can lift it all.  Turned out he had to work later than normal soooo I fell asleep on the couch and woke up just in time to call him and have him get some Del Taco for dinner ( real healthy) lol.

After that nap and dinner I decided today was the day to get out the car seat and stroller combo.  Let me just say it is easy to install the car seat, what isn't easy is understanding the directions.  They really need to re write them in a way that is more simple.  After about 3 tries we got it only to realize that it wasn't at the right level!  Anyways I know how to fix that so we only have to do it one more time and I think I will wait for the weekend for that.

Below is a piece of art that Grant and I did together!  I did the upper right box and the lower left box and he did all of the rest.  We wanted something fun for outside that included NZ and CA inspiration.  It turned out really good and now our patio is that much brighter and more festive.

Here I am at 34 weeks! Only 6 more to go!
Here is a picture of the instructions, I swear could have been so much easier!
Only 4 more days till the weekend !

Pregnancy Photo Shoot

Yesterday we got our photos taken by our friend Teresa Long, professional photographer!

I can't wait to see how they turned out!  My mom was helping in the background and she got these behind the scene photos.

I hope we get a good one that we can possibly put in the baby's room.

Today we have no plans, my back is killing me so I am guessing not much is going to get done today!

Flash Back

I always find it fun to pick a day or month and look back in my blog to see what I was doing this exact time the year or years before.

Last year we were just getting back from our new years trip to Pismo beach, I worked at the same place, but we lived in Orange and we were gearing up to move a few months after.  In 2012 I was looking for a new job and we were moving into our place in Orange.  I guess what I realize from looking back is that every year there has been a lot of change.  This year we will be having a baby in about 6 weeks and I will be taking off for about 3 months from work...

I love change, I find it fun and exciting!  The longest I have worked at one job is probably the one I have now which will be 2 years in a few months.  The good thing about change is there is always something to look forward to and if you don't like a situation you know there is going to be an end to it at some point.

Here are some posts I did around this time in previous years:

January 2013

January 2012

January 2011

January 2010

January 2009

This year I don't have resolutions but rather things to look forward to:
  • Having the baby
  • Getting back to my normal shape
  • Starting a new routine with the baby
  • Working on more art and possibly a way to make money from home
  • Having fun
Today we are going to get pregnancy pictures taken by our friend Teresa Long, and as soon as we get them I will share them here with everyone!
I love Saturday!

New Years Eve

Last weekend I got my hair trimmed.  It really needed it, I don't know why but I was thinking I could wait till after the baby was born, but then I realized I could not take one more day of it being out of control.
New Years Eve we had a small party at our place.  So I spent the whole day cleaning and getting everything ready.

None of my clothes fit anymore, and to be honest the same 5 shirts I own that do fit are getting pretty boring and old.  I found this shirt and even though its kinda baggy at least it was something that I hadn't worn yet.
We had more than enough food, we will probably be eating left overs for the rest of the week.

Poor little Hazel was feeling kinda sick the whole time, so she mainly slept and relaxed.
Kaylee and Dean had a fun time with the lego.
I look huge, man am I ready to have the baby and not look like a whale anymore!
Here are the kids new years morning, I had just told Dean he could take all that candy back home with him, look at the excitement on his face lol!
