End Of August

Thank goodness its the end of summer and Fall should be starting soon.  I am ready for the heat to stop.  The heat is relentless!  I am so sick of being in constant air conditioning.  Its so hot out that its not enjoyable to be outside, even walking from an air conditioned building to an air conditioned car causes sweating.  Please let this be a cool Fall and Winter!

We have been mostly inside staying cool.  I took Emmett for a bike ride the other day and not to long into it he started saying All Done! all done! All Done! lol

Even though its hot, I was able to plant the front of our house.  Before there was some ugly green ground cover, now there are flowers.
Emmett is a non stop blur! He will not smile for the camera or hold still so I take blurry photos.
Here he is wearing mama's hat and shoes.  He says mama's hat!

Below he is opening a gift from Anut Dee Dee and Uncle John.
Thank you so much for the clothes.  He loves turtles! So he was really excited to see the shirt with the turtle on it.

First thing he said was turtle!
On Saturday we met my friend Danielle for breakfast and had a really fun time eating and later playing at my house.  We forgot to take pictures!  Sunday we went to our swim class and Emmett was promoted from beginner to intermediate.  We will see what intermediate is all about at our next lesson.
Good Bye August and Hello to Cooling down...

We went to Oceanside to visit some friends on Saturday.  Emmett loved the water as usual.  He can't be trusted around water because he thinks he can swim lol.

We had an excellent time seeing everyone and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

Emmett 18 Months

Emmett is officially a year and a half old!  I can't believe he is so big now.
We are currently transitioning to one nap instead of 2 and because of that we are able to do a lot more in the mornings.  Because he is very tired in the mornings I am trying to keep him busy by doing lots of activities.  This is the best time to do any shopping that has to be done or play dates.  Then in the afternoons I am now able to get my work done!  Its a win win situation.  Instead of 2 short naps he is getting one long one, which is much better for him at this time.

Because of all the changes he is over all a little more tired which has been affecting his eating.  Now he is more interested in not eating lol, but it will all get better when this new schedule is set.

He has started his mommy and me class and in the fall I am signing up to a lot more.  My goal is that we have 2 to 3 classes a week going on so we are out of the house and having fun.

Over all Emmett is a happy sweat little guy that I just want to hug all day.  He still isn't into cuddling all that much, unless tired, and he is beginning to throw fits when he doesn't get his way.  I find distraction works the best or completely ignoring him when he starts to freak out.  I draw the line at hitting!  Hitting gets a time out! LOL!  Grant drew the line when his flip flop (jandle) was thrown in the trash.

Everyday is a fun new adventure!

At the park.

 Playing a game!

Pick it up and put it in the tube, watch it fall out!
I could just kiss that face!

Hair Cut

I decided I needed a new look.  I went a little shorter with lots of layers! Thank you to Alicia.
I love the new look, it will now be a lot easier to have some style.
Sometimes you just need a change =)

Playing House

Last weekend we hung out with the cousins!
They love playing house!
By playing I mean opening and slamming the door and running in and out.

Below Emmett is wearing Hazel's shoes.
Right now he loves putting on everyone's shoes.

First Day of "School"

Tuesday was Emmett's first day of mommy and me school.  We had a really good time and I think its going to be great for us.  Emmett did pretty good considering he normally naps during this time.

There is mat time where we all sang and jumped around, then there is group time with the teacher.  There is an art project and play dough.  I liked it because there is actual learning going on.

Because of the class we are transitioning to one nap and so far its working out really well.

We let Emmett pick out his own back pack.  Of course he picked the cars back pack and then we get it home and he is almost scared of it! He won't wear it and we had to put my phone in it for him to be interested.

Sometimes its so fun to watch what a 17 month old is thinking.  We were watching a morning program and a concert started.  Emmett immediately jumped off the couch and grabbed his guitar.  Its like I can see him connecting the dots in his head.  He sees the concert start and thinks look we are all going to play music and so he grabs his guitar.  During the whole song he sat on the floor and strummed his play/toy guitar.

Just this morning after his nap he looks up at the wall and sees the painting of the turtle that I made for him and he says turtle, then he points to his bed where he has a stuffed turtle.  Then he grabs his shirt that has a turtle on it.  Its like he was just realizing for the first time, there are all these turtles!

It is so cool to watch first hand someone putting everything together and trying to make sense of their world.

Its moments like this that I feel very lucky to get to be home with him everyday.
